Les Sybelles, one of Europe’s largest ski areas

Atypical resorts preserved from mass tourism, the six destinations united under the Les Sybelles banner nearly 20 years ago to form one of France’s largest linked ski areas.

Le Corbier, Saint-Sorlin-d’Arves, Saint-Jean-d’Arves, La Toussuire, Saint-Colomban-des-Villards and Les Bottières are the 6 ski resorts linked by a central summit: l’Ouillon at an altitude of 2431 meters.

Les Sybelles is a young ski area playing in the big leagues, offering a great ski product at an affordable price. Every winter, the infrastructure is modernized with ambitious investment projects to provide even greater comfort and fluidity for holidaymakers.

An estate initiated by gaston maulin

Born into a family of bakers from the Isère region, young Gaston Maulin also began his working life in this way. After an initial experience in the bakery industry, he moved into chocolate manufacturing and trading.

Meeting new people and seizing new opportunities, Gaston Maulin invested and started his own business. Financière Maulin was born, and the born entrepreneur soon found himself at the head of several companies.

His greatest success has been in skiing. He began this adventure in 1995, when he acquired the lifts at Le Corbier, Saint-Jean-d’Arves and Saint-Colomban-des-Villards. Then, in 1998, together with SOREMET (operator of the
ski area in La Toussuire), he bought the Saint-Sorlin-d’Arves ski lifts.

It was from this date that the project to link the 6 resorts of Les Sybelles was born. It will go into service in December 2003.
